Coronavirus latest: Nearly half of Luton adults have received first vaccine jab as areas with highest coverage revealed

NHS data shows 79,320 people in the town had received a vaccine jab by April 4. This equates to around 49% of those aged 16 and over, according to the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics.
Of those vaccinated, 53,718 were aged 50 or over – 89% of the age group.

The proportion of residents prioritised for vaccinations, such as those aged over 50, is one factor that could affect vaccine coverage.
Areas with the highest coverage:
1) Warden Hill, with 67.8% of people aged 16 and over given their first dose
2) Bramingham, 67.7%
3) Stopsley North, 66%
Areas with the lowest coverage:
1) Central Luton & Park Town, 27%
2) New Town, 30.3%
3) Dallow Road, 34.5%.
Across England, 26.6 million people had received their first dose of a vaccine by April 4, covering 58% of the population aged 16 and over.
